
This incredible marine research station serves as a platform for research and early career training. Located in Cape Town, it is run by a team of passionate conservationists and scientists. The centre specialises in projects that monitor and investigate the biodiversity of a global hotspot home to more than 3,500 endemic marine species. At the core of the centre's values is to engage the wider public through educational and engaging content, scientific communication, events and Citizen Science initiatives. They use eco-tourism and citizen science as tools to introduce both local and international communities to the scientific method and the wonders of the ocean.

This 4-week internship combines in-water field activities and theory-based workshops and lectures.

Gain valuable boat-based and land-based field research methods working alongside the team's biologists and field course students assisting in data collection and input.
Arrival day: Sunday
Departure Day: Saturday
Please note that the Marine Science Field Course requires SCUBA qualification. If you are not already qualified, you can arrive a week before the course to complete your dive training.

You'll be staying in a share house in Simon's Town or a nearby town. The volunteer accommodation is self-catered and is located close to restaurants, shops and bars. Wifi is available at the house and is included in the internship programme costs.
